Duke's Pass above
Aberfoyle. |
|
We
met as usual at Stirling Services and left about 10:30am heading for
Aberfoyle via Thornhill and then over the Duke's Pass into the Trossachs.
Past Loch Achray, Loch Venachar to Kilmahog and then up the side of Loch
Lubnaig on the way to Crianlarich and Tyndrum and eventually reaching
Bridge of Orchy for lunch at 12:30pm. Passing The Green Welly (a well
known shop) at Tyndrum,
David Jamieson spotted a couple of well kent cars and Gerry Hiorns and Gordon Smith
with their better halfs (they had been away for the weekend) joined us at
Bridge of Orchy for a drink. After lunch, we went along the
single track road at Glen Orchy to Dalmally and then from the head of Loch Awe
over
to Inveraray at Loch Fyne where we stopped and had an ice cream. At that
point DJ spat the dummy oot the pram and said that he wasn't going home
unless we did the "roller coaster" at Loch Long. It didn't take much
to persuade the rest of us, so we blasted down to Arrochar and what can I
say, this is really a fun road to drive along - big grins all round. Up
over the military road to Loch Lomond and then we went our separate ways
at Balloch. Hoods down all day, the scenery was spectacular and we must
have covered just under 200 miles. Just the three Fs on this
run. This was Alan and Lee Paton's first outing with the CSMGF.
